How Can You Help?

Snowball Express

Every year the Gary Sinise Foundation holds this event in December for Gold Star kids (children who have lost active military parents).  Project Linus is planning to donate 1200 blankets to this event.  Blankets must be 45 x 60 or larger -- 1.5-2.0 yards of fleece or crocheted/knitted afghans or quilts.
The kids especially like themed blankets for Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, in that order.  They also like Star Wars, Minions, Disney, camo, sports, cartoon characters, puppies, kittens, horses, unicorns, mermaids, etc.
Please no US flags since these would be a reminder of their loss.
The Iredell County chapter has pledged 12 blankets for this event.

Walmart Sam's Club Grant

The Mooresville Sam's Club, located at 646 River Highway, has awarded the Project Linus Iredell County Chapter a $500 community grant to purchase supplies to make blankets for children in distress in our community.

Thanks to the Walmart Community Grants program and to our local Walmart Sam's Club for this support!  If you would like to help make no-sew fleece blankets, please contact Sherry Klepfer at sherry@the-klepfers.com

***************************************
Launched in December 1995, Project Linus has grown to over 280 chapters nationwide and donated over 8.6 million blankets to children across the country.  The Iredell County Chapter of Project Linus (also serving Alexander, Wilkes, Yadkin, Davie and Davidson counties) was established in early 2017 to provide blankets to traumatized children in our communities and to provide a fun, rewarding service opportunity for people who enjoy making life a bit more cheerful for sick, homeless, or abused children.  Since launching in March 2017, we have delivered over 1300 blankets to children in need in our community.  Thank you Blanketeers!

Project Linus was named after the adorable security blanket-toting character from the Peanuts(c) comic strip.  Creator Charles Schultz was aware of our efforts and was delighted to have Linus inspire blanket makers to help comfort children in need.  "The best kind of sleep under heaven above, is under a blanket handmade with love."

You can help by becoming a blanketeer, donating materials to make blankets, hosting a Make A Blanket Day, or making a monetary tax-deductible donation.  Are you ready to "Get Involved" ?
